House Expectations
In-House Functions:
Whenever participating in House functions it is important to be aware of food preparation, setup, and cleanup. In particular make sure you address the following before leaving the event:
Floors swept, mopped, walls scrubbed if they were dirtied w/ blood.
Any carcasses/animals that were used for any Ebos should be disposed of far away from the house. Those for whom the animals were used are responsible for the disposal of them.
If you had animals/waste or trash used on your behalf take it with you.
If food was prepared the dished used must be washed and the venue left in order.
The first to arrive is responsible for setting up. Last to arrive is responsible for cleaning up and any addition.
Spiritually clean the space before and or after.
(Note: That is not to say that the last to arrive cannot get help from others in cleanup. One thing is to forget, another thing is to say you never volunteered.)
Apetebi & Awo’Faka Initiates:
We only allow Ishefa initiates into Egbe Ile Ire Aye. In other words you need to have your Hand of Orunmila before you can become a member. That is because this is a house of Ifa and Orunmila helps guide our individual and collective destinies.

Oshun is the main Orisha of this Ile.
Respect is to always be given by way of Ibu Elemi – Godparent/Iyatobi through foribale – saluting.

Public Functions (Someone Else’s House):
If attending functions outside of the Ile (drumming, Misa, party, etc.) it is your option the level of help you choose to give. It is not your event so there are no obligations. It is the responsibility of the godchildren to as a courtesy send an message to the God parent they are attending the event.
